Double

There are many great doubles all around us. A double run in Cribbage, double sided tape, or a double steal in baseball. Maybe a Double Jeopardy in Jeopardy, a double take, for some a Double Double at Tim Horton's with a nice sweet doughnut dripping with icing, or how about one I drool over, along with the doughnut mentioned previously, a double scoop of chocolate mint ice cream. No matter how wonderful the doughnut and ice cream taste they will inevitably lead to the worst double I know.
I would rather face a mob, no a horde, of flesh crazed, skin decaying zombies, get trampled by a thousand bulls in Spain then to see this horrible double.
I do my best to hide it with a flirty shoulder, the thinking posture, or the innocent giggle. But it bides its time when it can show itself to all. It waits for the camera to take that one picture taking me totally by surprise: The Photo Bomb!!
Bulls and zombies I will face any day but that double i cannot face. I will continue to be vigilant in keeping it at bay but it lurks and waits for that opportunity to show itself that evil Double Chin.

Climbing

Tried something different. My nephews were climbing a tree and I thought what a great picture. Snap!! Then pop!! A poem started growing. I took the picture, and doing something I have never done before, I wrote the poem on it. It probably is a little crooked but I think I did pretty well for my first try :)!!

Candle

I almost lost a friend today. Another friend is going through a lot of trials. I wrote this for them to let them know they don't ever have to do it alone and i will never leave them.

Candle

A single candle tall and bright
Flickers amidst a cruel wind
Dimming its golden, vivid light.

The wind becomes a hurricane.
The candle’s brilliant light fainter
Struggling against the pounding rain.

Through the rain another pushes
To shelter the fading flame
From the raging storm’s cold lashes.

Take my hand, dear friend, it is strong
And with it i will hold you tight
For this cruel storm will last till dawn.

Dear friend, the rains may pound you
With pellets of bleak horizons
But together hope will shine through.

I will strengthen your fading light
With mine own as long as you need
Never to leave you in this fight.

Unwavering

This poem is about the trials we can face everyday, none are mentioned in particular. Though we experience them it doesn't mean that we have to let them conquer us. We can win that particular battle with hope on the horizon but there will always be another battle to be won. Never lose hope. Never lose your unwavering step towards the light. Don't let anything or anyone beat you down. You are strong. one of my favorite sayings from THE HELP is, "You are kind. You are smart. You are important." makes me cry every time. Remember there is help wherever you are and you are loved.

Unwavering

Dark eve, stars with no end
Warn path, journey of faith
Forest dim, branches of trial
Young woman, unwavering step

Wintery breeze, gossips voice
Watchful eyes, faults to note
Growls deep, frightful words
Gentle lady, tones of earnest

Frigid snow, rejection’s cloak
Bough’s grasp, descending worth
Unmoving earth, trek to hinder
Kind lass, steadfastness of soul

Far distance, glimmering glow
Head raised, look beyond snow
Arms lift albeit halting grasp
Legs march on against firm soil

Beaming light, affectionate mantle
Vibrant melodies, uplifting song
Feathery wings, comfort heart
Kind lass, tireless tread

Perfumed wisps, heartened spirit
Velvety petals, triumphant to embrace
Emerald meadow, passage clear
Gentle lady, resolute hope

Dark eve, stars with no end
Worn path, journey of faith
Forest dim, branches of trial
Young woman, unwavering step
