Reflection

When I look in the mirror I see all my imperfections, how fat I am, how ugly i look today, all the things i have done wrong in my life; its overwhelming and i don't want to look anymore. I hurry to complete what needs to be done so i don't have to look anymore. One day i stared hard into the mirror watching myself look back at me and wondered what does my reflection see?

The watery cascade ends
Warm fog clears
Sullenly you appear
A face not unknown

Your eyes a sorrowful brown
Looks with haste
Loathing each line traced
Swiftly you depart

A glimpse of you is caught
Mouth softly speak
Words to ease a heart weak
Sooth own pain does not

Watch your arms strong and kindly
Comfort many
The saddened soul to free
Own guilt cannot sway

Glance between the jagged cracks
Lips do smooth
A troubled brow with truth
Yet steadfast yours remain

You pass me with another
Firm hands hold
Supporting the heavy load
Though your back soon breaks

Stare unable to comfort
Tears you cry
The anger lies inside
Hatred grasps your heart

The watery cascade ends
Warm fog clears
Sullenly you appear
A face not unknown

A loving message I have
Gentle plea
Moment to look at me
Within this crystal frame

Stopped quickly?  You, heard the plea?
Lean closer
In my eyes peer deeper
This message to see

In His gaze precious daughter
His love thrives
A beauty shown never to hide
Within in your heart know

This love that is more than love
Holds you in
Whispers words heard through din
To sooth your heart

His arms gentle, soft, and firm
Embrace souls
Removes guilt black as coals
To free you dear one

His hands cup your treasured face
Tears away
Dispel hatred and dismay
A burden to share

Glance tells me you truly saw
Message all
A tear of hope does fall
Seen the beauty of you

...though you may be seeing your reflection, you may not be seeing reality.... I do agree with you, it is with love that one truly sees.
